CRDI research is grouped under two main themes: Design as a Science and Design as a Tool for Innovation. We leverage the strength of our interdisciplinary faculty base to both develop fundamental knowledge of design as well as it’s broader application in the world around us.

 

DESIGN SCIENCE

Research under this theme focuses on the following core areas: human contexts- cognitive science and social science bearing on design work; products, technologies and tools – design languages, design methods, and design technologies.

Research in this theme supports the reduction of new products, technologies and tools to practice. This may include: Adoption of methods/ tools/ processes into industry, Development of new Intellectual Property and/ or Faculty-led start-ups,  and the creation of new policy
